Support the Park
The Big Sky Horse Park / Horse Council is a 501(c)3 corporation which utilizes 90 acres of the Missoula County Parks, Trails and Open Lands. The county of Missoula has what’s called a Management and Maintenance Agreement with The Big Sky Horse Park / Horse Council which allows us to utilize the acreage for equestrian and other community activities without need for payment of taxes nor the actual purchase of the land. This agreement provides only minimum funds from the county and relies on the Big Sky Horse Park /Horse Council to pay for all of the improvement and maintenance of the park.
Under this agreement, The Big Sky Horse Park / Horse Council has a membership program that generates income as well as income provided by the various events that are held at the park. These elements of “income” provide monies that are used for ongoing park maintenance and event preparedness. The funds generated are only base level for the park, it does not generate enough to do park improvement or any new additions or enhancements, which is why in addition to an all-volunteer board of directors and staff, we always are asking for the community to make an investment in this equestrian crown jewel of Western Montana.

The Big Sky Horse Park / Horse Council is a cornerstone of the Missoula Equestrian experience – for riders, spectators and visitors. Revitalizing this facility has an impact in so many ways:
For riders and trainers – Create an enhanced equestrian facility that continues to provide access to equestrians at all level of the sport.
For spectators - Create a comfortable, safer and more accessible experience where they can enjoy the park, the horses and equestrian sport.
For the City of Missoula – Supply a bigger draw for horse shows and events at the equestrian center, continuing to build the appeal of the city for residents and visitors alike.

The first phase of the long-term plan to upgrade the equestrian park has been budgeted to cost approximately $175,000-200,000. Decided by the Board of Directors, the three focus items of the first phase are: Spectator and Participant Experience Improvement, Dressage Complex, and Grounds & Maintenance Support.

Grounds Maintenance Sponsor: $30,000
The park recently acquired a new Kubota tractor, enhancing our ability to meet essential maintenance demands. This support ensures we can maintain high-quality, diverse footing across the park while keeping equipment in excellent condition. Sponsors receive recognition at all events, a featured link on our website, and the opportunity to renew their sponsorship every three years, directly contributing to ongoing equipment upkeep and the overall experience at the park.

Main Events Arena Sponsor: $25,000
Built in 1983, the Main Events Arena needs improvement and seating amenities. But the whole stadium ring and have your company name on a banner outside the ring, in print in the program, and have the ring named after you! For all events, your company name will be announced for the arena activity. Plus a link on our website to your company website. This two-year sponsorship can be renewed at each two-year anniversary.

Western Events Arena Sponsor: $25,000
The Western Events Arena, built in 2012, requires footing upgrades and improvements to support western activities. Sponsorship covers these upgrades and includes your company’s name on a banner, event announcements, a website link, and the naming of the arena after your business. This sponsorship lasts two years, with the option to renew.

Water Complex: $15,000
The old water jump has been removed and a new one put in place. To complete the project, we’re focused on landscaping and finishing touches to enhance both accessibility and aesthetics. Sponsorship covers these costs and includes a commemorative plaque with your company’s name, recognition in event announcements, and a featured link on our website. This renewable, two-year sponsorship provides ongoing visibility and support for our community’s growth.

Show Office Sponsor: $15,000
This Sponsorship is to cover the cost of a building which will be utilized for all events at the park, complete with power. The current “show office” is an older 5th wheel trailer which although functional is aesthetically.

Stadium Sponsor: $5,000
Buy the whole stadium ring and have your company name on a banner outside the ring, in print in the program and have the ring named after you! Plus a link on our website.

Start Box Sponsor: $1,000
Sponsors will enjoy hearing their company name announced every time a horse leaves the start box plus a sign on grounds and at the start box. Plus we will link your website to our website.

XC Jump Sponsor: $1,000
Sponsors will have a banner on the jump as well your company name will be announced for the particular jump sponsored. Plus we will link your website to our website.

Park Bench Sponsor: $500
There are currently 10 benches placed throughout the 1.7mile perimeter trail surrounding the 60 acres of the horse park, by sponsoring a bench or more, a plaque will be placed on the bench as well as maintaining the condition for all users of the trail.​​
