Big Sky Horse Park Benefit Hunter/Jumper Show
May 29th, 2021
Schooling shows are an excellent opportunity for new riders or green horses to participate in the competitive atmosphere of larger shows, for a fraction of the cost in a welcoming and warm community.
Benefit Shows provide funds for the park that pay for upkeep, maintenance, and new features. Supporting the show by competing and by cheering on competitors shows support for the park and everyone who enjoys it.
Come Support Your Local Horse Park by cheering on competitors, buying logo merch, making generous donations (of any amount), and buying memberships for yourself and your family.
Prizes will be awarded for first place finishes in all classes except lead line. We will also be awarding champion and reserve champion ribbons for all hunter divisions.
Prizes sponsored by: Dapple Design Co. They will be attending the event with a vendor table ready to provide you with gourmet horse treats, stirrup covers, bit warmers and more! Visit them on Instagram and at their Etsy shop @dappledesignco.
Open Schooling Days May 27th and May 28th. Whether or not you enter in the show, bring your horse for schooling in the Main Arena. It’s a great way to get some practice in and see all your friends at the same time! The Main Arena will be set up with a selection of Hunter and Jumper obstacles and there will be a volunteer on the ground to help with gates and fences. Please check the calendar for updated schedules on each day.
What types of competition will I see at a hunter/jumper show?
There are three main divisions at a hunter/jumper horse show: hunter, jumper and equitation. In all three, a rider guides a horse over a set course of obstacles in a ring. However, each is scored differently. The jumper discipline is scored based on the objective speed and accuracy the rider has over the course. Hunter and Equitation are based on a subjective judge of form over the course, with hunter classes focusing on the form of the horse and equitation classes focusing on the form of the rider.
